The Aircraft Mechanic II is responsible for ensuring that aircraft and equipment is functioning safely and efficiently. The Aircraft Mechanic II services, repairs and overhauls various aircraft components and systems including airframes, engines, electrical and hydraulic systems propellers, avionics equipment and aircraft instruments.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMaintains, repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical componentsApplies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and apply required expertise in restoring condition and operationSolves moderate to complex problems by interpreting knowledge of aircraft mechanical components troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement partsMaintains and / or repairs aircraft sheet metal structures. Make modifications as necessaryApplies thorough working knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheetsReads, interprets and relays information from technical publicationsRecords repairs, modifications and other tasks in required aircraft logs and maintenance recordsLeads a team of mechanics and other personnel, when required, through more complete aircraft relevant tasksThe Aircraft Mechanic II may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organizationJob RequirementsHigh School Diploma / Equivalent Completed a military aircraft repairer school for one of the following aircraft CH-47D/F/G, H-60A/L/M, OH-58D, UH-1, AH-64A/D/E, T-6. Repair course completed must be the same as the aircraft in the job title.A minimum of 8 years#8217; experience in Army aviation maintenance or five years verifiable RDT&E experienceReset or Depot experience is preferredEmployee owned set of general aviation mechanic tools for use on the aircraft in the job title required. Tools will be shadowed and etched with PID during in processing.Must currently hold and maintain an active Secret level Government Security ClearanceHighly Desirable:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:Beginner to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferredAbility to enter data accurately into databases.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondenceInterpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew membersMust possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.Ability to follow a process.Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.Ability to perform basic mathematical computationsHigh degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independentlyAbility to multi-taskClimbs on top of and down from aircraft using aircraft hand/foot holds, capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. overhead, on feet all day, walk up to 2 miles per day.QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma / EquivalentCompleted a military aircraft repairer school for one of the following aircraft CH-47D/F/G, H-60A/L/M, OH-58D, UH-1, AH-64A/D/E, T-6.
