In conformance with engineering reqmts, use production illustrations, specifications, shop aids, blueprints or other information sources, to perform fabrication or assembly processes necessary to build electrical wires or wire bundles. Utilize visual controls and mfg. load control processes to determine the plan and sequence work. Locate points, parts, holes and wire bundles from station lines or index points. Derive measurements and related information from specifications or other information sources. Route/pre-route wire assemblies and bundles using form boards. Set up, adjust and operate numerical or computer controlled machines to cut, identify and prepare electrical wiring. Select proper wire, load, adjust and machine feed the marking and cutting mechanisms to control machine operations. Incorporate directions, corrections and information changes. Employment in this position requires color perception, occasional (1-3 hours) of finger manipulation, flexion/extension, handling, lifting less than 10 pounds, sitting, and standing as well as zero to 1 hour of heavier lifting (up to 35 pounds), including bending and twisting at the waist and the use of personal safety equipment. Determine job set-up and the materials, parts, standards & tools required for job by reviewing information from multiple sources. Obtain and verify that kitted (pre-picked) materials were issued correctly. Ensure that parts issued are correct & free of visible defects. If necessary, assemble materials, parts, standards & tools as required. Set up job per work instruction. Install board/table brackets & clamps as required. Set up & operate Numerical Control (N/C) wire cutting machine(s) to cut & code wire. Load cutting tools & wire, adjust feeds/speeds as req?d. Fabricate wire bundles, by cutting, coding, counting, sleeving & splicing wire. Install connectors, lugs, solder sleeves, ferrules & contacts. Crimp & terminate using hand or machine crimping tool; tie with lock stitch or panduit straps. Install wire bundle into electrical panel or shelf by routing, clamping, terminating & tying. Hand form as necessary. Cut & install plastic sleeves over wires & wire bundles, as req?d. Install accessories (relays, circuit breakers, switches & lights) and decals onto shelves and panels as req?d, using hand tools and soldering gun. Check continuity of electrical assemblies using test lights or ohmmeter, as required. Handle & dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner. Check work upon completion of each operation & ensure it is complete per drawing. This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement. This position requires occasional (1-3 Hrs) flexion and extension, handling, lifting less than 35 pounds, rotation of head/neck, sitting, standing and walking.
