Garmin's fulltime Aviation Simulation Engineer for our Aviation systems and Programs team based at our headquarters in Kansas City will support successful conception, development and/or application of sophisticated avionics systems by providing support for complex integrated flight deck programs and/or retrofit product lines. The Aviation Simulation Engineer will lead and develop improvements to data packages delivered to simulator companies. They will anticipate and create solutions for simulator company qualification needs. You#8217;ll also be responsible for supporting troubleshooting of issues reported by simulation companies and provide clear communication for internal and external customers. Other essential duties include:

  • Provides troubleshooting support to identify the system root cause
  • Utilize simulation based setups to test, troubleshoot, and verify system functionality
  • Identifies improvements and modifies tools for use in simulation tools (complex VBA, python tools, other)
  • Design and maintain definition for efficient API to be used by simulation products
  • Ability to scope the effort of existing and new simulation programs
  • Organized and proficient at documenting discussions with simulation customers
  • Effective communication skills including presentations, status updates for internal and external stakeholders and technical documents
  • Knowledge of the unique needs of simulation environment (ARINC 610C)
  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
  • Experience with creating test scripts to improve automation

A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics from a four-year college or university with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is required for this role. Qualified candidates must possess demonstrated test conception and test design experience for complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems and must demonstrate test automation experience including test scripting capability. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are also a must for this role. Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Software / Computer Science Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university and a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA are preferred. Relevant experience and/or training in an applicable high level software programming language, 5+ years#8217; experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description, a Pilot#8217;s License, and/or demonstrated knowledge of Garmin#8217;s aviation product lines and customer needs are also desirable skills Our benefits are designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life.
