The Boeing Company is seeking a Field Services Representative- Defense (Entry-Level). The Field Services Representative will be located at one of our US Navy sites for support of ESGN, ESGN-R (high-precision inertial navigation equipment used on SSBNs) and occasional other programs. The final work location for this position will be determined after the interview and selection process. The person can be located at any one of the following locations: Cape Canaveral, FL, Kings Bay, GA, Groton, CT or Bangor, WA.POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing a career in Marine Electronic Ship Systems and Sensors.
  • Ability to develop relationships with immediate customers (e.g., operators, maintainers, and users) by communicating and understanding their needs and expectations.
  • With assistance, provides interpretation of technical documents (e.g., maintenance manuals, operating procedures, drawings, interactive electronic technical manuals) by communicating with operators/maintainers to ensure the intent and purpose of the documentation is understood and followed.
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide variety of difficult problems with limited assistance.
  • General knowledge of and demonstrates an ability to use general and precision tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, multimeters, etc.)
  • General understanding and application of logistic support systems (e.g., shipping and receiving, spares databases, export control, inventory control, etc.)
  • General knowledge and understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance principles
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Refers to policies, procedures, and practices for guidance.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Products are reviewed for sound judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
  • Interact with internal personnel and external customers and represents the organization on specific projects.
  • Must be willing to travel to field locations and accept Domestic/ International Temporary Assignments at off-site locations.
  • Must be willing to provide periodic duration at-sea support on surface vessels and submarines.
  • Must be willing to obtain a required periodic company physical.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents (e.g., orders, manuals, maintenance manuals, operating procedures, drawings, interactive electronic technical manual)
  • General knowledge of and ability to use general and precision tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, multimeters, etc.)
  • General knowledge and understanding of the principles of preventive and corrective maintenance programs
  • Makes use of and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, and concepts

  • Develop and utilize collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
  • Provides installation, troubleshooting and maintenance, refurbishment and de-installation support to complex electro-mechanical equipment end user in coordination with other field service representatives.
  • Utilizes multi-disciplined technical expertise and company knowledge to assist the customer to achieve and sustain a high level of proficiency in the operation and maintenance of company products by investigating product problems, determining causes, and developing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Understands customer expectations and assists the customer in interpreting and using support data and documents, provides technical on-the-job and formal training, develops curricula and courseware, and acts as the on-site liaison between the company and customer personnel of widely varying backgrounds to gain resolution of significant technical and operational issues.
  • Travels for work 25 of the time.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills Experience):
  • Experience in a role which operates in a multicultural environment where you demonstrated the ability to adapt and develop relationships.
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical documents and/or drawings.
  • Experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators.
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally. 
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills Experience):
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing a career in Marine Electronic Ship Systems and Sensors.
  • Direct experience maintaining inertial navigation systems.
  • Experience with receiving and shipping process flows.
 Typical Education / Experience: Bachelors degree and typically 3 or more years related work experience, a Masters degree and typically 1 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
