Duration: 6 monthsDescription: Chipton-Ross is seeking a Manufacturing Planner in Milwaukee, WI. Job Description:Analyze demand requirements for assigned items, expedite materials and coordinate additional capacity to meet customer requirements, sequence/prioritize component and finished goods manufacturing operations to maximize on time shipping levels when capacity constraints exist, optimize system parameters for items to minimize inventory while maximizing service, implement lean tools to improve material flow.Responsibilities:o Attend Morning Market and exception meetings for assigned manufacturing operations. Obtain information on material and capacity constraints. Provide updates on significant order activity that will impact operations.o Review and analyze planning tables to identify shortages that may impact customer orders.o Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement to improve material quantities and availability dates when required for customer orders. When not possible, communicate expected availability dates to the Order Release Planner and Customer Service.o Where capacity or material constraints exist, sequence/prioritize component and finished goods manufacturing operations to maximize on time shipping levels.o Proactively monitor and analyze demand vs. inventory levels for non-repetitive parts. Release work orders as required to meet customer orders.o Resolve planning related system issues by analyzing system information and working with colleagues to determine root causes and implement corrections.o Analyze current work center loads and provide estimated lead times for large orders that are being quoted.o Add temporary eKanban and/or Supplier Kanban bins to accommodate large order requirements.o Support Operation's efforts to maintain inventory accuracy by investigating count discrepancies, providing system transaction information, requesting re-counts, and adjusting inventory balances.o Cover responsibilities for colleagues as required.o Participate in weekly staff and project meetings.o Set-up products on Kanban (eKanban and Supplier Kanban) by analyzing products (demand levels, lead times, and demand variability), creating the appropriate system records, and coordinating their introduction.o Evaluate current kanban quantities (eKanban and Supplier Kanban) and adjust in response to seasonal or other demand changes.o Optimize system parameters (lot size, order multiples, lead times, etc.) to maximize service levels while minimizing inventory investment.o Analyze variability in supply and demand and create or modify buffer stocks (kanbans, safety stock, etc.) to maximize service levels while minimizing inventory investment.o Maintain excellent product knowledge by attending training classes for new and revised products.o Participate in assigned continuous improvement projects (kaizen events, departmental improvement initiatives, process improvement teams, etc.). Key activities may include analysis of historical data on supply and demand variability, proposing improvement initiatives, evaluating options, and implementing process/system changes.o Modify/update system data in response to issues or internal audit findings.o Work with procurement and operations colleagues to resolve work center throughput issues.o Other duties as necessary or as assigned by supervisor.Requirements:Experience: 1+ years in a resource management role (buyer, planner, scheduler, etc.).1 - 3 years of successful performance in roles that required knowledge of products, customers, and/or manufacturing processes.Skills: - System knowledge (SAP preferred) sufficient to pull data from multiple sources for evaluation and decision making. MRP experience/knowledge preferred.- System knowledge (SAP preferred) sufficient to proactively monitor and analyze demand vs. supply and initiate activity to meet customer orders.- Microsoft Excel skills sufficient to analyze large amounts of data by using such functions as sort, average, standard deviation, min, max, and frequency.- Microsoft Word skills sufficient to document procedures and produce tables and lists of information on product supply and demand.- Knowledge of how manufacturing processes, component lead times, and customer priorities impact service performance.- Judgment and decision-making skills sufficient to balance customer requirements with production and procurement constraints.- Communication skills sufficient to present and share information on order status, product availability, expected lead times, etc.- Negotiation skills sufficient to persuade colleagues to increase available resources to meet demand while maintaining effective relationships. Part of these skills includes the ability to escalate requests when appropriate.- Knowledge of lean tools (5S, Cellular Manufacturing, Kanban, Line Leveling, Kaizen events, etc.) sufficient to actively participate in projects where these tools are applied. - Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities simultaneously.- A work style that is focused on customer service, quality, and attention to detail.Education: Associate Degree in Business Administration. A candidate without a degree will be eligible as for a Manufacturing Planner position if they have sufficient Mortara product and system knowledge to perform the responsibilities of the job or equivalent outside experience.Schedule:Full-Time.
