Amentum is currently seeking a qualified Non DestructiveInspection (NDI) Technician II NAS 410 Level II in support of USAF F-16Aircraft Maintenance Operations at Holloman AFB, NM. This position is governedby a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).This contract consists of F-16 Block 40 aircraft organizational level (O-level)assigned to the 54th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (54AMXS), 7th and 8thAircraft Maintenance Units (AMU) contractor operation and Intermediate level(I-Level) supplementing the 54th Maintenance Squadron (54 MXS) and 49 MXS tosupport flying training for the 56th Fighter Wing (56 FW), 54th Fighter Group(54 FG), training mission at Holloman AFB (HAFB), NM.The Non Destructive Inspection (NDI)Technician II Inspects aerospace weapon systems components andsupport equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspectionmethods and performs fluid analysis.Essential Responsibilities (Basic):1) Determine test method, and prepares fluids and parts for nondestructiveinspection.2) Interpret nondestructive inspection test results, and provide informationabout defects to repair center.3) Analyze wear metal content on engine lubricating oil and other fluids, andrecommend corrective action.4) Establish radiation areas for radiographic operations.5) Compute and monitor personal exposure areas for radiographic operations, andmonitor personnel exposure data.6) Perform nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems.7) Detect flaws such as cracks, delaminations, voids, processing defects, andheat damage using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic,optical, and ultrasonic test equipment.8) Determine metallurgical information of components according to alloy,temper, conductivity, and associated factors.9) Operate, maintain, and inspect nondestructive equipment. Perform operatormaintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools.10) Ensure lock out and tag out procedures are accomplished prior to maintenanceon equipment. Perform silver recovery functions.11) Handle and dispose of hazardous waste and materials.12) May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she isqualified to perform.Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have a thorough knowledge ofcleaning and other necessary preparation of parts before or after NDT. Must beNational Aerospace Standard (NAS) 410 qualified and certified IAW Air ForceInstruction 21-101 and Technical Order 33B-1-1. Must be qualified to direct andcarry out tests in the method certified. Shall be thoroughlyfamiliar with the scope and limitations of methods used. Shall know practicaltheory, be familiar with, and be able to use manuals and source books forassistance in utilizing techniques. Must be aware of the need for andlimitations of reference standards. Knowledge of all types and location oftypical defects for the fabrication methods used to manufacture parts. Currentlevel II certification with a minimum of four years of experience in performingNDT tasks (other than OAP) on engines is required or two years CrossUtilization Training (CUT) as Level I. Prior experience performing NDT tasks onassigned engine components is highly desired. The ability to meet visionstandards specified in NAS 410. Lifting and handling heavy parts required.Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required tostand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employeefrequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel,crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb orbalance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move upto 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific visionabilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colorvision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing theduties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanicalparts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wetand/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles;outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. Requirements: 

A candidate with prior NDI Level II experience is mandatory.High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum four (4) years actual and recent intermediate/depot level aircraft non-destructive inspector experience is required.Must have completed military aviation maintenance training or aviation maintenance technical school curriculum or possess a certification from an accredited ASNT schoolKnowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.Must be able to pass and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.Must be able to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
