NDT Director

The Director of NDT will report to the VP of Operations and will be responsible and available to the Jet East customers for 24/7 technical support and troubleshoot issues. This position requires a professional in the field of NDT that can grow the department's revenues year over year. The position also requires leadership and managerial skills to lead a group of highly skilled NDT technicians to be industry-leading in the field. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain certifications (RT, MT, ET, PT and UT Level II) and perform these methods on any articles (Level III in these methods preferred but not mandatory)
  • Desire to peruse Level III ratings in these methods will be required if not already held
  • Professionally deal with customers, vendors, FAA, and their audits for the NDT department
  • Track and handle NDT equipment calibrations
  • Responsible for the care of NDT equipment and tooling
  • Responsible for the organization and housekeeping of NDT department, offices, shops, vehicles, and tools/equipment and work away locations
  • Train, assist and supervise NDT Technicians in proper work procedures and practices
  • Ensure NDT Technicians are qualified for their assignments
  • Responsible for the growth of the NDT department (aligned with the company's growth plan)
  • Assist VP of Operations with monthly GP analysis of department financials
  • Travel to local airports to perform NDT as necessary
  • Manage NDT department manpower scheduling
  • Ensure continuity of work of the NDT department is properly documented and turned over in case of shift change or reassignment
  • Verify that all NDT technicians work is performed in accordance with the applicable technical data and Jet East manuals Assist in adding new techniques and ratings to the operational specs as the NDT department grows
  • Assist in the hiring process of NDT technicians as the NDT department grows
  • Responsible for on the job training (OJT) and technical training of those who report to the Director
  • Assist with overseeing time worked records for the NDT department technicians Ensure all employees of the NDT department follow the proper safety procedures
  • Communicate and update the appropriate people regarding job details (example: Customer, Manager, and VP of Operations)
  • Ensure work packages and maintenance records are completed correctly by all NDT personnel
  • Assist all NDT Level II technicians with interpreting, evaluating, and reporting on NDT test results
  • Know and understand the Jet East repair station manuals and procedures

Skills and Qualifications:The candidate for this position will have a minimum of 15 years of experience in the field/industry. Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to be willing to work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet in the air) using fall protection safety gear
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time while performing repairs
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs or more
  • Ability to operate basic hand tools and ground equipment
  • Ability to work in confined spaces

Non-Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to learn and use technical manuals
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems effectively
  • Ability to communicate both in writing and orally in clear and
  • understandable manner with co-workers, customers and Jet East leadership
  • Must be able to perform repairs effectively and quickly in shortnotice, high-pressure situations
  • Must be able to input and retrieve information from computers
  • Experience with Apple and Microsoft products especially Outlook, Word, and Excel spreadsheets
  • Able to travel to locations, in all weather conditions, to perform repairs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
