Job TitleLead Sheet Metal Mechanic - Section 48 1st ShiftJob Description SummaryMechanic, Sheet Metal Sr. Specialist - 04 The Sheet Metal Mechanic Sr. Specialist is responsible to maintain, modify and integrate components into major assemblies. They are responsible for assisting in the development of co-workers, by coaching and mentoring other mechanics in best practices for quality objectives. They will be involved in activities like assembly, installation, repairing of sheet metal and composite products. The Sheet Metal Mechanic Sr. Specialist must have a thorough understanding of the department KPI’s and be knowledgeable of what is needed to obtain/maintain them.Job description

  • Maintain, modify, and install the various components of aircraft sheet metal and composite assemblies and structures. 
  • Rework, install, and fabricate complex aircraft structural assemblies.  
  • Ability to perform any level of rework with little or no supervision, and the ability to train others on re-work methods. 
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency of precision measuring devices. i.e., micrometer, ball gauges, dial calipers, scales, and all other calibrated devices.  
  • Maintain documented records of work accomplished. 
  • Works from and to engineering drawings, blueprints, manufacturing specifications and procedures.  
  • Adheres to quality procedures and instructions both written and verbal. 
  • Notifies supervision of all malfunctions, defects and damages of material, equipment and/or product. 
  • Expected to keep all areas clean, neat and orderly.  
  • Preform visual and functional inspection of operations to ensure product meets all requirements and specifications.   
  • Assist in development of co-workers, by coaching and mentoring other mechanics, including training and development of all new hires into the area. 
  • Assure final quality acceptance of installation and configuration of all components., i.e., rivets, fasteners, holes, sealant, torque and all other components that are applicable.   
  • Ability to perform mechanical functions in any or all of the following examples: precision drilling, close tolerance holes, reaming, countersinking, cold working of metal, installation of rivets and fasteners.   
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety programs. 
  • Supports and attends and may host Continuous Improvement activities. 
  • May be required to assign job tasks and follow up for completion. 
  • May be required to perform any and all other related job duties as assigned.

Profile and other information related to the positionQualifications 

  • High School Diploma or Accredited GED 
  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently required in order to perform the job. 
  • 7 years of experience in aircraft sheet metal structural assembly, or a combination of aircraft structural assembly and MRO Repair experience. 
  • Demonstrated abilities to use MES / MEDS, pull up, interpret, and work from drawings and specs. 
  • Meets all physical requirements.
