If you look at any profession, the majority of people are good. They do their jobs professionally day in and day out. They serve as examples to their peers and to young people who yearn to join their profession.

Then you have the bad people. Those whose actions are oftentimes highlighted in the press and give a negative stigma to the profession as a whole.

D.O.M. Awards Call for Nominations

D.O.M. magazine is seeking nominations for its second annual Maintenance Manager of the Year and Above and Beyond awards!

The D.O.M. magazine staff introduced these awards in 2012 because it felt there isn't enough recognition for all the extra effort and professionalism that exists in our industry — in particular, there is not enough recognition for maintenance managers that deal with the day to day challenge of running an aviation maintenance department.

Washington, DC -- Today, the U.S. aviation industry received notification from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that the final rule for aircraft repair station security will not be approved and published until the fourth quarter of 2012. This notification was prompted after 20 industry leaders sent a letter to DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano asking that the rule, which has been under consideration for eight years, be finalized before the end of 2011.
