If so, our Defense Systems wants you to join our Team as a P-8 SCA Aircraft Mechanic Helper. This position is located in Lake Charles, LA. The Navy P8-A is based on the Boeing 737- 800 platform. The P-8 operates in  (ASW),  (ASUW), and  (ISR) roles. This is a maintenance and sustainment program performing depot level operations. **These positions are Service Contract Act positions. **This position will be hired for multiple shifts. ***This program is contingent on contract award and has an anticipated start date of October 2024. Your duties Include:

  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
  • Removing major components from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective parts and reassembles/installs
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
  • Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Entering description of the work performed and verifying the work was performed satisfactorily
  • Service engines and airframe components
  • Maintain schedules and quality standards.

Other Duties May Include:

  • Work with jigs, fixtures, and various tooling, as operations require.
  • May be required to work in other fields incidental to, and in connection with, completion of assignment.
  • May be required to perform other related duties, as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to be subject to a variety of physical conditions.
  • Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours.
  • Able to wear respirator or other safety gear.
  • Ability to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Previous mechanical experience.
  • 2 or more years of aircraft experience.
  • A P License.
  • Able to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance
  • Able to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel)

Salary Range: $20 - $22The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
