Machine Operator

The Machine Operator performs many of the cord fabrication operations under close supervision of the Supervisor and/or Group Leader. The job entails using mills, swagers, extruders, and CNC equipment and measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers and scales; and dismantling and cleaning of all tools and equipment used.MAJOR DUTIES(1) Routine setup, operation, careful logging of feed speeds and cleanup of various machines. (2) Make accurate measurements with standard measuring instruments and balances, perform basic calculations and record on proper documentation. (3) Communicate potential and safety problems effectively. (4) Handle energetics in accordance with safety regulations. (5) Perform all production-related work assigned by supervisor or group leader in strict accordance with written procedures (6) Identify, control and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste including solvents, explosives, and lead. (7) Read and assemble per Manufacturing Procedure, with some guidanceQUALIFICATIONS:Specific Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements(1) High school diploma or equivalent, and ability to read and understand English.(2) Basic understanding and training in machine operations, or equivalent experience., and demonstrated ability to operate a variety of machinery. At least 3 years of experience preferred.(3) Demonstrated ability to use measuring devices, used in metal working and machine operations.(4) Mathematical aptitude (good working knowledge of basic math.) and aptitude.(5) Ability to understand verbal and written instructions, and simultaneously maintain proper documentation.(6) Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.(7) Can perform basic functions with minimal oversight. Willingness to take instruction from mentor and or trainers. (8) Must be capable of adapting to changing situations upon the direction of supervision, and be able to thoroughly document variations from standards.(9) Understands document revisions and standards governing documenting procedures. (10) Basic computer tasks with knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word (11) It is the expectation that all employees will be safety conscious at all times.
