Our team members are motivated individuals that do remarkable things every day!Position Summary:AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Pascagoula, MS that is the leading provider of quality construction, manufacturing, engineering, repair, and conversion products and services to the marine industry.The 1st Class Structural Welder is responsible for performing welding tasks to assemble and fabricate steel structures on marine vessels in accordance with shipyard specifications, blueprints, and industry standards..Essential Functions:

  • Perform structural welding on ship components such as hulls, decks, bulkheads, frames, and foundations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements.
  • Utilize various welding processes, including SMAW (Stick), FCAW (Flux Core), and GMAW (MIG), as specified.
  • Prepare work surfaces by grinding, cutting, and cleaning to ensure quality welds.
  • Conduct weld fit-up and tacking according to engineering specifications.
  • Inspect completed welds for conformance to specifications and correct defects when necessary.
  • Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols.
  • Work in various positions, including overhead, vertical, and flat welding, often in tight or elevated spaces.
  • Collaborate with ship fitters, pipefitters, and other trades as required to complete vessel construction or repair.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of structural welding experience in a shipyard or heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience with flux core and stick welding in shipyard settings.
  • Ability to pass shipyard welding tests and certifications.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Familiarity with marine vessel structures and shipyard fabrication practices.
  • Physical ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must possess basic math, measuring, and layout skills.
