GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • This individual will perform structural repairs on rotary and fixed wing aircraft.

DUTIES:

  • Work will involve planning, designing and laying out of all types of aviation sheet metal work from blueprints, models or other specifications, setting up and operating all available types of sheet metal working machines.
  • The use of a variety of hand tools in cutting, bending, forming shaping, riveting, and assembling are required
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • An FAA Airframe license is desired.
  • Must have completed a military or vocational school.
  • 12 years experience with aircraft structural systems maintenance
  • Must have experience in corrosion control practices including removal and treatment
  • A previous holder of 68G/15G MOS or other service branch equivalent is preferred
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of military technical manuals
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
  • Work in an inside/outside environment to include working around machinery, objects, vehicles, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Excessive noise and vibration that can be intermittent or constant.
  • Environmental conditions can included but not limited to dust, silica, asbestos, fumes, smoke, gas, solvents such as degreasing agents, grease, oils, and electrical energy
  • Working on slippery or uneven surfaces
  • Working closely with others or working alone
  • Possible protracted or irregular hours of work as needed or required.
