The Aircraft Mechanic III – Egress will primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment
maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the
Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101(and supplements), as well as industry standards.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintains repairs/modifies aircraft structures and structural components and engines of complex to extreme
difficulty.
• Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics,
pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions
and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
• Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical
data such as blueprints or manufactures manuals.
• Position typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component
troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet
metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical
systems.
• Position is required to have a detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque
wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
• Will perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on other assigned MDS aircraft in a highly “cross-
utilization/trained” environment.
• Will be required to perform at a moderate level of competency in one or more of the following areas: repair
and reclamation, egress, electro/environmental, avionics, wheel tire, sheet metal, composite repair,
propulsion, fuels, AGE, armament, munitions, non-destructive inspection (NDI), and pneudraulics.
• Maintains aircraft and support equipment forms records IAW AF procedures utilizing AF Information Systems
and forms as required.
• Performs transient aircraft support, CDDAR team chief, Phase dock, QA augmentation, Wheel Tire duties.
• Minimum of five years performing aircraft egress maintenance functions in a military environment and
attainment of an Air Force 7 level (or equivalent) is required. ACES II Egress certification required
• Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a
professional and non-confrontational attitude.
• Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and
technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance effort.
• The incumbent must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to
structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike.

• The incumbent must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery
schedule.
• Will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex relevant aircraft tasks, and may be
required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
• Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance
directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.
• Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.
• Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.
• Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed.
• Must possess a current valid U.S. Drivers License.
• Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Working Conditions:
• Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.
• Will work in aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and
aircraft.
• Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime shifts as required.
• May work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
• May be exposed to contaminants.
• May be exposed to hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding or climbing ladders
• Will be exposed to loud and persistent noise
• Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: safety toe footwear, safety
glasses, etc.
