Banyan 2015 AMT Celebration
Banyan celebrated its 10th annual AMT Day on Thursday, May 21, 2015. This annual event pays tribute to Charles E. Taylor, the first aircraft maintenance technician (AMT), who designed and built Orville and Wilbur Wright’s engine. It is also a day that Banyan uses to honor its aircraft maintenance technicians, avionics technicians and parts team for their dedication to quality and safety.
The event took place in Banyan’s avionics hangar with over 70 teammates enjoying a barbeque lunch celebration that included remarks from Banyan speakers; Charles Amento, Albert Beltran, Lou Homsher, Bob Van Riper, and Don Campion.
Charles Amento, Acting DOM, opened the ceremony with information about Charles E. Taylor, and a thank you to the technicians for their dedication and commitment to safety.
Albert Beltran, Banyan’s Corporate Chaplin gave an invocation followed by Lou Homsher, chief inspector saying “our greatest strengths and what separate good technicians from great technicians is character and integrity. When I look around this room I see a lot of great technicians. Our customers, our industry and our profession deserve nothing less.”
Bob Van Riper, HondaJet sales manager, remarked that “technicians don’t get recognized for all the excellent work they do, because being perfect is the expectation.” He continued by saying, “there are very few jobs that involve the number of regulations that a mechanic has to follow from the FAA, OSHA, EPA, as well as the service manuals. Thank you for the attention to detail and the quality you put into every job.”
Don Campion, president, remarked, “A maintenance crew’s job is to maintain the aircraft you are assigned to the highest possible standards to keep the flight crews and your passengers safe. As maintenance technicians, we think of ourselves as the guardians of airworthiness.
