Becker Avionics Announces TSO certification of New AR6201 VHF-AM Transceiver

Becker Avionics announces TSO certification of its new high performance, compact 2¼-inch, AR6201 VHF-AM Transceiver, with 8.33 kHz channel spacing and integrated voice activated (VOX) intercom system. The intercom feature allows up to two passengers with a standard or dynamic mic. The AR6201 continues the legacy of its predecessor, the AR4201 VHF-AM transceiver, which set the industry benchmark for its reliability and performance. With more than 18,000 units sold, the AR4201 has been the trustworthy companion for thousands of pilots flying millions of flight-hours.

The new AR6201 is built using state-of-the-art Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology resulting in a highly efficient transmitter and very sensitive receiver. The AR6201 represents a quantum leap forward in technology, performance, technical sophistication and ruggedness.

The AR6201 operates with a frequency range of 118 MHz to 137 MHz with selectable channel spacing of 25kHz or 8.33 kHz. Standard or dynamic microphones can be used with its intercom feature. A voltage meter to measure battery voltage is built-in.

By blending a VHF-AM Transceiver and voice activated (VOX) intercom system into one single, attractive and compact unit the operator will not need to invest in a separate intercom system (up to two seats). Further, the new dual-monitor or dual-watch mode allows the unit to scan a second channel/frequency to increase situational awareness.

The AR6201 Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) lighting color will be compatible with the Becker BXP6401 Transponder in ”green” and “white-blue” colors. An automated built-in-test procedure increases flight safety and reliability. The AR6201 is mountable in a 2¼-inch standard instrument recess. The AR6201 will be pin-to-pin compatible with the AR4201 to ensure easy upgrade and replacement.
