Cobham plc Appoints New Chief Executive Officer
Wimborne, Dorset, UK - Robert "Bob" Murphy will take over as Cobham's CEO on June 25, 2012, and will relocate to Cobham's Wimborne office. On Nov. 18, 2011, Cobham announced that Chief Executive Officer Andy Stevens had decided to take early retirement. Chairman John Devaney assumed the position of executive chairman during conduction of the search for Stevens' successor.
Murphy has worked in aviation's civil, commercial and defense sectors for more than 25 years. He is a member of BAE Systems' executive committee and currently serves as BAE Systems' executive vice president. He is responsible for the company's global operations of the product sectors business. He previously worked at GE, where he was CFO of the military engines operation of the GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) Group. Prior to that, he spent eight years working in the commercial aircraft industry supporting GEAE.
Murphy holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and marketing from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. He serves on the board of trustees for the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), the board of visitors for the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, and is a member of the BAE Systems/FNSS joint venture board of directors in Turkey.
