Dallas Airmotive Singapore Regional Turbine Center Receives CAAS Certification

Dallas Airmotive’s Singapore Regional Turbine Center (RTC) has been awarded its operating certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). The RTC is authorized by Honeywell for TFE731 major periodic inspection (MPI) services and line maintenance on TFE731, CFE738 and HTF7000 engines as well as line maintenance on RE100, RE220 and 36 series APUs.

Singapore is the newest Regional Turbine Center in the Dallas Airmotive global network that now numbers 13 centers. The RTC was opened during official ceremonies on February 13, 2012. CAAS certification (No. AWI/318) was awarded on February 10, and marked an essential milestone in the facility’s business of providing engine repair and maintenance services.

“CAAS certification is a prerequisite for obtaining individual country certifications such as from China, Australia, India and other countries in the region as well as EASA and FAA authorities,” comments BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul group president, Hugh McElroy.

The Singapore RTC also serves as home to one of Dallas Airmotive’s F1RST SUPPORT (TM) global technical support centers. There are three such centers around the globe. Each provides live technical support for AOG events and serves as a focal point for dispatching field service and technical support to operators on an around-the-clock basis. F1RST SUPPORT uses satellite-based systems to track personnel, engines, tooling and equipment to enable the most efficient and quickest response to an AOG call.

“We want operators to be able to talk to a support person no matter what time of day their AOG occurs,” says McElroy. “By establishing a global network of support services we can have someone at the ready whenever the situation requires.”

Dallas Airmotive operates 13 Regional Turbine Centers worldwide – ten in the Untitled States, one in the United Kingdom, one in Brazil and one in Singapore. These facilities offer a variety of services depending on location and typically include hot section inspection and/or major periodic inspection, repairs, LRU replacement, troubleshooting and field service dispatch. The company is also a leading provider of engine overhaul services on major small gas turbine engines. Dallas Airmotive is celebrating its 80th anniversary during 2012.
