Baker Aviation Positioned for Growth with New Facility and Appointment of Harry Mitchel to Vice President
Baker Aviation, a full-service aircraft maintenance, management and charter company, is now located in a new 66,000-square-foot facility at Fort Worth Meacham International Airport (KFTW). The Baker business moved into the spacious two-hangar facility last year as it outgrew the previous Fort Worth location. In addition, Harry Mitchel has been named vice president of Operations to facilitate future plans for growth and success of the company.
“We are optimistic about the industry, especially here in North Texas, and took advantage of the opportunity to expand and began building this facility in 2019,” says Stan Baker, III, president of Baker Aviation. “Of course, no one saw the pandemic coming last year, so we adjusted to keep our business flying. Bringing Harry on board was one of the strategic decisions we made to further develop our opportunities post Covid-19, and he has hit the ground running. Harry’s experience and aviation insight make him a great addition to our team, and I look forward to working with him."
Harry Mitchel has more than 35 years of experience in operational leadership and consulting roles and was most recently the chief operating officer for Executive AirShare, where he was responsible for flight operations, owners’ services, scheduling and maintenance departments for a fleet of 43 aircraft. Prior to developing and expanding a food franchise in Nashville as president, Mitchel was vice president of Operations for Colgan Air, where he managed operations that included 56 aircraft and 500 crewmembers.
A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and an ATP-rated pilot, Mitchel has FAA Part 135, 121 and 125 expertise and has served as chief pilot, director of aviation, and check airman, as well as flight and ground instructor. He has over 7000 hours of total flight time, with 2000 being in the Boeing Business Jet/737s flying global operations.
