Duncan Aviation Transforms a GL-5000 with Luxury Sports Car-Inspired Seats and Sophisticated Design Elements

Duncan Aviation’s Lincoln, NE, facility completes a distinctive partial interior refurbishment on a GL-5000 that boasts seating influenced by luxury sports-car design.

“The refurbished interior centers around custom seats crafted to reflect the color and sophistication of the owner’s luxury vehicle,” explains Duncan Aviation lead designer, Jaime Blanken. “We achieved an exact color match, adding perforated details along the sides and double-stitched, square, quilted inserts, which bring an upscale, automotive touch.”

The new carpet, fabric lower sidewalls, countertops, seats, entryway flooring, fabric divan, fabric aft dividers, entry curtain, and flight deck curtains give the aircraft a fresh and modern look that blends well with the existing wood tones.

“The eclectic mix of textures, patterns and neutral wood of the cabinetry gives the space a bohemian-inspired vibe,” Blanken says. “It’s a unique palette that avoids beige but still feels warm and inviting.”

Duncan Aviation’s Interior Innovative Solutions team developed a custom simulated solid surface finish that was applied to the lavatory and galley countertops, matching the aircraft’s updated shades of grey and complementing the warmth of the wood.

“This pattern ties in beautifully with the veining and tones of the real wood veneer while balancing the aircraft’s grey accents, achieving a cohesive look with just the right amount of contrast,” Blanken adds.

Additionally, the entryway, aft lavatory, and front crew lavatory were outfitted with new grey marble LVT flooring. The flooring’s warm brown and cream veining enhances the cabin’s sophisticated, modern look, harmonizing with the cabinetry and other design elements throughout the aircraft.

The director of maintenance, Jesse Winn, says the owner was very pleased with the new interior and the overall experience at Duncan Aviation.

“After his first flight last week, he stepped off and said 'Man, it sure feels nice to fly on a brand-new airplane!'" Winn says. “He is particularly impressed with the seats, and overall we had a great experience."

"We’ve worked with Duncan Aviation several times," the customer says, "and we will definitely continue to return for the outstanding service. We’ve been more than happy with the service we’ve received each time.”
