The position is an Electronics Technician/Quality Assurance Coordinator for assigned F E installation and/or construction center within Engineering Services - Eastern Service Area (ESA).

Duties

The incumbent serves as a principal technical specialist, team leader or instructor for the Quality Assurance (QA) program. Performs work of broad scope and complexity. Provides the highest organizational level technical support associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, or evaluating the most complex system for the which the FAA is responsible. Applies broad experience and comprehensive technical knowledge of assigned disciplines and specialties, an understanding of new technologies and methods, and FAA policies and programs.

Is considered a technical expert within the organization for the installation of equipment and systems into the NAS. Work directly supports the objectives of the organization and the safe and continual operation of the NAS. Contacts are both internal and external. Often represents the organization as a primary technical point of contact on projects, programs, and other work activities to coordinate and implement plans or to obtain information and resolve problems. Coordinates with other organizations and agencies concerned with
FAA activities. Often oversees the activities and/or inspects the work of contractors.

Provides guidance to other technicians and trainees regarding difficult technical or operational issues. Independently resolves all but unique technical problems. Interprets and adapts technical manuals, manufacturers instructions, FAA policies and procedures, and other
publications. Monitors the quality of installations of NAS equipment and systems. Identifies and reports significant deviations from standards established by the ESA Engineering QA program (ESA). Determines the need for and recommends corrective action to remedy quality assurance problem areas. Ensures field installation/construction reports are accurate, contain an appropriate level of detail and are timely. Ensures facility work permits and risk assessments are properly completed and posted.

Recommends training plans for center field personnel to increase their job skills, knowledge and effectiveness. Provides training, mentoring, and guidance and advice to field (installation/construction) personnel on technical and administrative issues. Provides positive quality assurance controls during installation/construction activities to improve quality and minimizing JAI exceptions. Prepares "end of project critiques" to analyze actual performance vs projected performance (e.g. schedule, budget, quality, manpower, etc).

Approximately 90 of the work is performed in a travel status at remote locations.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to Pay Band H/Level III. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience may include but is not limited to: Experience providing technical advice or direction to field personnel; scheduling projects based on priorities and available field resources.
