Flying Colours Corp. Completes Third Bombardier Global Heavy Maintenance Check

Flying Colours Corp. announces it has completed its third 120-month heavy maintenance check on a Bombardier Global airframe. The ten-year inspection of the Global Express required the privately-owned aircraft to be stripped back to the airframe to enable a full structural inspection. The interior was also stripped bare, as wall panels, carpets, insulating surfaces, floorboards, monuments, external fairings and panels were removed to undergo maintenance assessments and the requisite overhauls. The aircraft was redelivered at the end of July and represents the last in a trio of 8C checks completed in the last twelve months.

The work, which was undertaken at the Flying Colours Peterborough, ON facility also included a full landing gear overhaul, replacement of the cabin seats with new seats, new exterior paint and interior soft-goods refurbishment and cabinetry refinishing.

Flying Colours is performing an ongoing series of heavy maintenance inspections on Global airframes and anticipates more for 2019. “We know there will be a significant number of Global C-checks due next year so have readied the team with specific training and added extra equipment, including the addition of a customized tail-dock, to the facility to meet demand. As a Bombardier ASF we are well positioned to support the upcoming mandatory checks ,” says Eric Gillespie, executive VP, Flying Colours.

Heavy checks are also being completed on Bombardier Challengers, Learjet and Dassault Falcon types at both the Peterborough, On. and St. Louis KSUS Flying Colours facilities. “Both facilities regularly conduct light to heavy maintenance across a range of airframes. We also handle interior modifications and technical upgrades in parallel which maximizes the aircraft downtime helping the owners save time and money,” adds Gillespie. Flying Colours will be promoting its full range of heavy maintenance options at this year's NBAA booth 1735.
