The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is looking for highly qualified avionics technicians for a fleet of modern law enforcement aircraft. You'll be working with the latest in modern GPS, infrared cameras and searchlights as well as a host of other navigation systems, instruments, and law enforcement equipment.
F-16 Production Flightline APG performs a variety of mechanical duties involving diagnosis of malfunctions and required maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. Testing and troubleshooting post flight issues.
- The Technician-level position as a machinist in the Mechanical Engineering Machine Shop operates a wide range of machine tools in the precision fabrication from aerospace-grade metals of prototype / development parts and assemblies, in support of internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.
- Performs all types of inspections to support all phases of assembly and manufacturing, including but not limited to subcontracted and/or purchased parts.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- May require the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Assemble cables and harness assemblies.
- May be required to perform a variety of electrical assembly operations; such as soldering, wiring, cutting, chassis marking, preparing terminations, harness or cable forming and lacing.
Inspects components, housings, and finished assemblies of electromechanical products for conformance to established work instruction, industry standards, drawings, etc., using low / high power microscopes, test equipment, and hand-held inspection tools. Work with engineering to report and detail non-conformances.
- Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed Cable Inspections. Uses various measuring devices.
- Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
