The Aircraft Machinist produces replacement parts and new parts in making repairs of metal parts of mechanical equipment. Work involves most of the following: interpreting written instructions and specifications, planning and laying out of work, using a variety of machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments, setting up and operating standard machine tools.

The Aircraft Mechanic I (AH-64 Mechanic Specialty) troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. 

Classification Description Loads munitions and explosive and propellant devices on aircraft and inspects, maintains, installs, modifies, and repairs aircraft bomb, rocket, and missile release, launch, suspension, and monitor systems; guns and gun mounts; and related munitions handling, loading, and test equipment under the technical direction of an Armament Mechanic, Armament Mechanic (Senior)
