Overview of Electro Optical Infrared Systems The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS has locations in Dallas, TX, Melbourne, FL, and Cypress, CA. LocationDallasSummary of Role13;DRS NIS ndash; Mechanical engineering design candidate would become a key member of an integrated product team tasked to develop sensors and related military products. The duties would primarily be associated with the mechanical design of infrared sensors and cameras. As part of DRS39; multidiscipline team, the successful candidate would be involved in mechanical concept to detailed design, as well as supporting the integration and testing of products.

Requirements: 

Basic Qualifications and Required Skills#13;

  • Education: BS ME or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 8-20 years experience in mechanical design with 5+ years experience in defense industry
  • Proficiency using PTC Creo Parametric 3 (proficiency in other CAD tool acceptable)
  • Electronics packaging experience
  • Experience with lasers, weapon sight, and EO systems
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Communicate well, both in verbal presentations and written documentation.
  • Practical problem solving
  • Experience designing to requirements of MIL-STD-810
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be a motivated, self-starter

Desired Skills#13;

  • Structural and Thermal FEA analysis (transient and steady-state)
  • Mechanism design experience
  • Experience with infrared imaging devices
  • Opto-mechanical design
  • Failure analysis and analytical skills
  • Proficiency using Mathcad and/or Matlab

Essential Duties and Responsibilities#13;

  • Lead mechanical design activities on LRU level product design:
    • Assist with specification generation (including flow-down component level specification)
    • Detailed product design, modeling, and material selection
    • Transition of products into production
    • Coordination with subcontractors and suppliers
    • Support of customer level design reviews
  • Design, develop, and implement technical solutions to complex problems
  • Creation and release of engineering drawings and engineering documentation
  • Coordination with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Other duties as assign
