MRO Americas
The D.O.M. magazine team is in Atlanta this week attending the MRO Americas trade show. The show has been amazing! The show floor was sold out and is packed with exhibitors. Attendance is the highest I have ever seen. It is evident that the MRO market is thriving.
My favorite part of the annual MRO Americas show is the Aerospace Maintenance Competition (AMC) presented by Snap-on. This year, 84 teams from around the world are competing. Tomorrow, we will learn which team was the best of the best. That team will get to take the William (Bill) O'Brien trophy back to their facility to showcase until next year's show.
While AMC is a competition, it is great to see the camaderie throughout the competition. Relationships are made. Mentoring and networking are present, and the professionalism of our craft is on full display for the aviation industry and the general public to see.
Ken Mactiernan and John Goglia do a great job organing the annual AMC. They couldn't do it without all of the volunteers and corporate sponsors that donate their time, talent and resources to help pull off the event.
The main sponsor of the AMC is Snap-on. Greg Napert and I had the opportunity to go to Snap-on headquarters in Kenosho, WI a few weeks ago and interview Nick Pinchuk, CEO of Snap-on. He shared his passion for promoting skilled trades including aircraft maintenance. Look for an article on our interview in the June issue of D.O.M. magazine. In addition, a podcast of the entire interview will be available on our website soon.
In addition to the Nick Pinchuk interview, we will have a wrap up of all the AMC winners in our June issue.
Stay tuned!
