The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all maintenance operations within a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility. This role ensures that all maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with regulatory standards (FAA, EASA, etc.), OEM specifications, and internal quality systems. The position requires strong leadership and technical expertise to drive performance, safety, and continuous improvement across all maintenance functions. This role reports to the Director of Maintenance (DOM).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term maintenance plans to optimize labor and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all FAA, customer, manufacturer, and internal regulatory standards.
  • Oversee timely execution and documentation of work packages, work orders, and return-to-service processes.
  • Supervise and support personnel to ensure optimal motivation, efficiency, and discipline.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop technicians and support staff within the maintenance team.
  • Promote and enforce safety compliance; identify and mitigate hazards and report safety concerns to the DOM.
  • Ensure maintenance work, materials, and practices align with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Manage on-the-job training and validate that only qualified personnel perform designated tasks.
  • Oversee lead technicians' completion of work orders, documentation, and daily turnover logs.
  • Collaborate with materials and scheduling teams to expedite parts and resources needed for maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
Requirements: 
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in commercial aviation maintenance (Heavy Maintenance/C-Check).
  • Strong background in aircraft systems, engine reactivation, modifications, and preservation.
  • Knowledge of FARs 43, 91, 121, 135, and 145 required.
  • Experience in aircraft storage and disassembly is a plus.

Education:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • A P (Airframe and Powerplant) Certification required.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on A P experience with large commercial aircraft.

Additional Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in budgeting, scheduling, and operational planning.
  • Strong focus on safety culture and compliance.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ERP or Maintenance software (e.g., Corridor Go) preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English; Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Understanding of California labor laws is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping systems (e.g., Paycom, ADP, Kronos) and performance management processes preferred.

Work Location Supervision

  • Location: Victorville, CA
  • Travel: None required
  • Team Size Supervised: Approx. 50 personnel (including Leads and Technicians); subject to change based on business needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods in hangar and ramp areas.
  • Regular physical activity including bending, climbing, and overhead work.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Work may occur in loud, hazardous, or outdoor environments; PPE usage may be required.
  • Must have visual acuity of at least 20/40 (corrected) and adequate hearing.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
