Following its successful debuts at AirVenture and the Reno Air Races this summer and fall, Stratos Aircraft will display its Very Light Jet (VLJ) at the NBAA Convention beginning on October 10th. Between the public appearances, Stratos flight testing has been marking significant progress; the company has started construction on a second prototype and has completed the erection of a new 13,000 square foot composites facility in Redmond.

The Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) announces that House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) has introduced legislation to keep the FAA operating for another six months. Under current law, the FAA’s budget authority expires on Sept. 30. House and Senate committees passed multi-year FAA reauthorization bills this summer but the legislation has not received floor consideration in either chamber.

Flying Colours, the North American MRO, refurbishment and completions specialist, announces it has delivered an enhanced carbon-copy of the innovative red, white and black carbon fiber cabin, that was originally designed for a Bombardier Challenger 850 in 2013. In the wake of Hurricane Irma’s destructive path through the Caribbean, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is supporting storm recovery efforts in the U.S. Virgin Islands with a fully-staffed mobile air traffic control tower at Cyril E. King International Airport in St. Thomas. The tower was fully operational at 9:40 a.m. September 13 and is now supporting relief flights by the U.S. military, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, general aviation and limited commercial flights.
