Elliott Aviation Adds Revision to Mid-Continent MD302 STC to Include Heading Display

Elliott Aviation, an avionics retrofitter, announces an amendment to its STC for the installation of the Mid-Continent MD302 electronic standby. The amended type certificate now includes heading display in Garmin G5000- and Honeywell-equipped Citation Excel and XLS aircraft.

The STC utilizes the Mid-Continent MD32 magnetometer to provide heading input to the MD302 electronic standby instrument, which comes standard in Elliott Aviation’s Garmin G5000 installations for the Citation Excel and XLS.

The original STC of the MD302 installation was issued in Aug. of 2019. The amended STC was done in conjunction with Garmin’s phase 1 of Citation Excel/XLS G5000 installations, which offers Garmin AHRS as a replacement to the existing Litef 93 and 100 AHRS. This replacement gives the system lower cost of maintenance and better reliability.

Elliott Aviation includes the Mid-Continent MD302 as standard in all of its Garmin G5000 and G1000 NXi installations. The company has completed over 50 Garmin G5000 retrofits, including the Citation Excel/XLS and the Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP — more than any other dealer. It has also installed more Garmin G1000/G1000NXi retrofits in King Airs than all other dealers in the world combined.

“We are continually looking for ways to improve our customers’ experience,” says Conrad Theisen, director of Avionics Sales at Elliott Aviation. “Adding heading display to our Mid-Continent MD302 STC adds another level of functionality that our Citation Excel and XLS customers are looking for.”

Installation of the MD302 in the Citation Excel and XLS can be completed with or without the Garmin G5000 avionics suite at Elliott Aviation’s facilities in Moline, IL, and Des Moines, IA. Elliott Aviation also has one-stop maintenance, avionics, paint, interior and accessories capabilities at its headquarters in Moline, IL.
