Aviation Mechanic
The class specification for the position of an Aviation Mechanic for the Sheriff's Office requires a high level of technical and mechanical aptitude, along with specialized training. The Aviation Mechanic performs a variety of functions in support of the Sheriffrsquo;s Office Aviation Unit including:
- Inspect Helicopters Regularly
- Troubleshoot and Diagnose Potential Problems
- Perform Necessary Helicopter Maintenance and Repairs
- Communicate with Pilots
- Make Recommendations for Maintenance, Repair, and Retirement of Helicopters
- 24-48 Months of Practical Turbine Helicopter Maintenance Experience
- FAA-approved Maintenance Technician Certification (A P required and IA preferred)
- Previous Aviation Experience (OH-58/206 Jet Ranger)
- Previous Mechanic Experience (Microvibe System Familiarity preferred)
- Must own a complete set of aviation quality hand tools
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Florida Driverrsquo;s License
