Avionics Technician
Summary
The Avionics Technician must accurately troubleshoot, repair and perform scheduled maintenance on all airplanes, as well as perform inspections as required by the FAA.
Essential Functions
- Fully analyzes all required blueprints, drawings, work orders and sketches to troubleshoot, repair and install desired product or part. Detects errors and corrects through proper departmental channels.
- Professionally trains and leads other employees in proper work techniques.
- Schedules items through the shop to maintain on-time deliveries.
- Checks all mechanical components prior to installation to prevent damage.
- Accurately estimates hours and materials for scheduled jobs.
- Works effectively with engineering in recommending design enhancements and productivity improvements.
- Specializes in installation, inspection, test, maintenance, and repair of Avionics systems.
- Operates all required ground support equipment.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are primarily Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with a one hour unpaid lunch. However, evening and weekend shifts may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of Avionics work experience.
- Must demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform all job tasks.
- Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions.
- Thorough working knowledge of all current FAA regulations, IPM and ATA codes.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
- Prior project management experience.
- Prior training experience on aircraft mechanical systems.
- Five to Ten (5-10) years’ of aircraft-related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform all job tasks.
Other Hiring Requirements
- Valid Driver's License.
- US Citizenship is required to obtain/maintain a United States Security Clearance.
- Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.
- Must be able to obtain a passport.
- Veteran Status Preferred.
