It’s time to let our voices be heard. We need to do our part to participate in the Federal Government’s rulemaking process. The FAA recently published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) titled Mechanic Certification: Inspection Rating and Recent Experience Requirements in the Federal Register. The proposed rule will affect FAA certified mechanics with Inspection Authorization.

Where Have all the Mechanics Gone?

By Patrick Kinane

We have talked about the mechanic shortage for more than 10 years. This is incongruent to the airline layoffs which gives the appearance that there is an excess of aircraft mechanics who are being dumped on the market.

This year's Wisconsin Aviation Maintenance & IA Renewal Seminar will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Convention Center in Stevens Point, WI. The format allows for multiple sessions to be held concurrently throughout the day. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit with manufacturing representatives and suppliers at exhibit booths throughout the day. The seminar begins promptly at 7:50 a.m. and concludes at 4:40 p.m. The doors will open at 7:00 a.m. which will allow attendees time to check in and visit exhibit booths.

D.O.M. Awards Call for Nominations

D.O.M. magazine is seeking nominations for its second annual Maintenance Manager of the Year and Above and Beyond awards!

The D.O.M. magazine staff introduced these awards in 2012 because it felt there isn't enough recognition for all the extra effort and professionalism that exists in our industry — in particular, there is not enough recognition for maintenance managers that deal with the day to day challenge of running an aviation maintenance department.
