Blackhawk Modifications, Inc., announces the company has received a supplemental type certificate (STC) which approves the installation of the True Blue Power TB44 (46 amp-hour) lithium-ion battery on Blackhawk-powered Cessna Caravan 208/208B models.

Advent Aircraft Systems successfully completes FAA flight testing of its eABS anti-skid braking system for the PC-12 series. Once the STC is issued, it will mark the first time an anti-skid system will be available for the aircraft. The Advent eABS is currently certified for the Eclipse EA500/550, King Air B300, Textron Aviation Defense T-6B/C, with the King Air B200 pending.

Following extensive audits, LRQA is granted accreditation to both AS 9100:2016 and AS 9120:2016, the quality management system (QMS) standards for organizations in the aerospace industry. Global accreditation was awarded by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). In addition, national accreditation was also awarded to LRQA by COFRAC in France, ENAC in Spain, and ANAB in the USA.

Continental Motors Group Ltd., an AVIC International Holding Corporation company, announces it has received both its American and European supplemental type certificates (STC) by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the Cessna® 172 family of aircraft powered by the jet-fuel diesel engine CD-155 (114 kilowatts, 155 horsepower). The certification now includes the integration of Garmin® G1000® integrated avionics system.

EASA certification director, Trevor Woods, presents EASA's re-written CS-23 certification rules for small aircraft at AERO, pointing out that the "EASA CS-23 are new, smart and flexible rules, prepared with and for a safe, innovative GA industry." The reorganized CS-23 remove design limitations for manufacturers and thus open the way to innovation.

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) marks the passing of business aviation legend Charles A. "Chuck" McKinnon, founder and longtime manager of IBM’s flight department. He died March 30 in his hometown of Trussville, AL, at the age of 101.
