Can you imagine if one day AI was deployed in general aviation aircraft to automatically land an aircraft at an airport should the pilot become incapacitated? With the push of a button, a passenger could activate the system. AI would then take over. It would determine the status of the aircraft, find the nearest airport, communicate with air traffic control and other aircraft, and perform a safe landing without any input from the pilot.

Management With Style

I have had a lot of managers during the course of my career. Some were good, some bad and some mediocre.  I eventually figured out that there is as much — or more — to learn from a bad manager as there is from a good one.

Professionalism

Greg,

You may not remember me because you talk to a bunch of people, but I clearly remember talking with you and Joe at various times and places. I continue to be impressed by what you have done with this magazine.

Remembering Peter

Hi Joe,

I just finished reading the Jan/Feb issue of D.O.M. magazine. I was so impressed with Bill Brinkley’s article on Remembering Peter, I just had to write to you. What a well done and profound piece of journalism! Thanks to Bill for hitting the nail right on the head!

More on Actively Engaged

In the Jan/Feb issue of D.O.M., I discussed “actively engaged” as it pertained to Inspection Authorization renewal. If you haven’t read it yet, you can read my editorial column by clicking here.

There are a few more thoughts I wanted to share regarding the FAA’s effort to more closely interpret “actively engaged.”
