PS Engineering Solves an Age-Old Problem with PAC37 Drop-in
PS Engineering finds a way to fill a space the market has neglected — legacy jet audio systems — and introduces the PAC37, the only truly direct plug-and-play replacement for many of the Baker series 1045 analog audio panels.
Light to medium business-aviation jets have long been lacking a reliable audio-panel solution that drops into the place of an old version at a reasonable cost. Because the audio panel connects to every communication and navigation radio in legacy aircraft, installing a new audio system can feel overwhelming, not to mention expensive. Even when upgrading the primary avionics suite, many legacy audio panels are often left untouched.
The PAC37 is backward compatible in form, fit and function, but additional functionality is built in. PS Engineering’s PAC37 is a plug 'n' play retrofit audio panel, allowing for added capabilities in demand by today’s flight crews:
- independent Bluetooth in each audio panel for cellular telephone and audio streaming
- IntelliVOX® auto-squelch along with push-to-talk and hot-mic intercom
- TXI - intercom stays active during radio transmission
- RXI - com text flashes when audio is active
- crew PTT key indicator with 35-second stuck PTT disconnect
- support for up to three stations
- artificial transmit sidetone
- illuminated selection indications for front-panel user controls
- music selection on/off and volume control
- configurable music muting.
PS Engineering’s configuration tool and fully customizable label nomenclature ensures the PAC37 will replicate the functionality of the existing audio system. Although the PAC37 is a drop-in replacement without any modification, other capabilities are available with additional wiring on a separate connector. These include:
- extra headset with mic (crew jump seat/ground crew)
- stereo
- MultiTalker® Dimensional COM Audio Location (with stereo)
- hardwired stereo music input
- additional unswitched audio inputs.
The PAC37 is currently undergoing TSO qualification testing and will be available for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2024. List prices start at $28,995.00 per two-panel shipset. Initial introduction is directed to Gulfstream platforms, with Dassault Falcon and Bombardier Challenger to follow. Contact PS Engineering for additional information at www.ps-engineering.com.
