Buffett, acquired Precision Castparts Corp. /*generated inline style */ Job Description SummaryThis position is responsible for various tasks relative to the day-to-day operations of the Ultrasonic testing of product prior to shipping to the customer. Ensuring Ultrasonic inspection meets the Quality standards of TIMET’s management system, customer requirements and Nadcap standards.Essential FunctionsAct as the Ultrasonic Technical expert for the Toronto Plant.Develop and maintain operating procedures meeting the appropriate testing/quality specifications.Write and authorize NDT SOP’sObtain customer or end-user approval where required.Liaise with customers on NDT issues.Conduct audits and approvals of sub-contract NDT sources.Report on defect statistics for Toronto and TIMET Corporation.Train, Test and Certify Ultrasonic inspectorsMaintain a Level III certification for sonic.Train, test (internally/externally) and approve Level I and II operators.Maintain operator training and approval logs.Maintain Process Quality accreditations i.e. Nadcap, GEAE, etc.Host customer/end-user and accreditation audits for NDT.Respond to findings and implement corrective/preventive actions.Participate in evaluation programs of new inspection technologies.Assess Ultrasonic production systems/methodology for continuous improvement.Have an awareness of emerging NDT technologies and evaluate those viewed as beneficial to the inspection process.Prepare CER’s for new NDT equipment purchases.Additional ResponsibilitiesCoordinate Ultrasonic inspection schedules with manufacturing activities to be consistent with on-time deliveryQualificationsCompetenciesInterpersonal and supervisory skillsVerbal and written communicationLeadership responsibility, ability to work in union environmentEducation and ExperienceBS in Materials Engineering and/or NDT Level III for UT.
