SummaryApplies advanced knowledge and experiu00ADence to solve unusually complex or system problems; those that typically are not able to be solved solely by reference to maintenance manuals or similar docuu00ADments. Incumbent will implement training plans for less proficient technicians and evaluate their progression. Document training forms as required. At this level, the incumbent has demonstrated the ability to solve a variety of complex simulator and or aircraft system problems.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Applies comprehensive technical knowlu00ADedge to solve complex problems, those typiu00ADcally solved by properly interpru00ADeting mainteu00ADnance manuals or similar documents
  • Assists in the design of minor hardware system modifications and software programs to stay current with aircraft configuration and to improve simulator operability.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to less proficient technicians.
  • Conducts quality control inspections and inspect maintenance work performed.
  • Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Monitors and tracks the repair status of inoperative equipmentand document maintenance activitiesutilizing the logistics managementdata base system.(Documentingmaintenance activitiesincludes but is not limited towork order generation and updates, repair action documentation, issuing, returning, and adjustinginventory, insuring inventory records are up to date and accurate,and other material control duties as assigned.)
  • Works with Engineering in regards to non-standard situations.
  • Recommends changes based on knowledge and past experience.
  • Uses knowledge of simulator and aircraft systems to interpret advanced technical data.
  • Interprets and works with computer systems utilizing various and multiple operating systems.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions of computers and associated equipment, and performs operability/readiu00ADness tests and repair.
  • Performs systems interface/fault isolation.
  • Applies fundamental troublesu00ADhooting procedures in the maintenance of interfaces and peripheral equipment used with computers.
  • Interprets mechanical, hydraulic, elecu00ADtrical and electronic schematics and drawings and makes simplified versions.
  • Conducts voice communications on phone, inter-phone and radio circuits.
  • Provides networking and information systems support on training devices and networks.
  • Maintains good relations with customers and ensures information flows within technical organization.

u00B7Implements basic modifications to existing simulators.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Position requires a Technical College Degree with 5 years of related experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and operation of full flight simulators or an equivalent combination of technical education related to electronics, electromechanical, computer, aviation or simulation technology and/or hands-on work experience in the maintenance and operation of full flight simulators that total a minimum of 7 years.
  • 2 years of related experience may substitute for absence of Technical College Degree
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use and operation of test equipu00ADment to perform pre- and post-operational test on installed equipu00ADment to perform preventive maintenance using preventative maintenance cards and instruction books.
  • Must possess advanced skills necessary to diagnose and isolate malu00ADfunctions in electronic systems; align, adjust and calibrate installed training devices; interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schemau00ADtics and prepare simplified versions.
  • Must possess advanced skills to perform calibrations, adjustu00ADments and tests on elecu00ADtronic equipment; analyze operation, verify discreu00ADpancies, isolate malfunctions and replace defective components used in installed devices
  • Must possess and maintain advanced proficiency in the use of diagnostic programs, interpretation of results, and the use of program listings to isolate faults and be adept in the use of test equipu00ADment, repair of micro/u00ADminiature printed circuit boards, electro/mechanical systems and devices to include projection display systems, computer controlled motion and electronic control loading systems and computer generated sound systems.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of diagu00ADnostic programs, interpreu00ADtation of results and use of program listings to isolate faults.
  • Must be skilled at use and operation of test equipment, including u201COu201D scopes, frequency counters, volt/ohm meters and range calibration set.
  • Must be able to perform routine preventive maintenance using maintenance requirement cards and instructional manuals; perform daily system readiness test, pre-operational and post-operational checkouts.
  • Must exhibit high performance and capability to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to drive a forklift, man-lift, K-loader, or other support equipment as required if trained and certified to operate.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Must be able to effectively deliver oral presentations to management and customers
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.
  • Must be eligible for DoD Personnel Security Clearance.

Language SkillsMust have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex word and technical documents/diagrams. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects. Mathematical SkillsMust be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.Reasoning AbilityMust be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings. Security ResponsibilitiesMust complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources. Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds over head.
  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under the device.
  • Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Domestic and international travel as required.
  • Shop floor environment.
  • Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
  • Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, loud noises.
