Snap-on DMC Electrical Termination Certification

The Daniels Manufacturing Corporation’s Precision Electrical Termination is the newest certification course now being offered through Snap-on’s Tools for Life Technical Education Program.

The course curriculum focuses on various facets of precision electrical connections, including crimping. When properly performed, crimping results in a reliable connection between a contact and conductor that incorporates dependable electrical and mechanical characteristics.

Upon successful completion of the Daniels Manufacturing Corporation’s Precision Electrical Termination certification, technicians will possess a solid understanding of the fundamentals of working with precision electrical termination tools; be proficient in the methodology of crimping, and identification of essential component parts such as mil-spec connectors and contacts.

The course content includes the following areas:

  • History of connectors and wire termination tooling
  • Connector, contact and terminal identification
  • Crimping methodology
  • Tool identification, assembly and operation
  • Installing and removal of mil-spec contacts
  • Equipment maintenance, calibration and verification

Crimping is the cornerstone of electrical termination in high-reliability applications such as:

  • Aerospace
  • Land-based and maritime transportation
  • Space exploration
  • Military defense systems

Precision Electrical Termination is a certification course developed jointly between Daniels Manufacturing Corporation and Snap-on.

Designed to further the skills and hands-on knowledge of students and technicians, the Precision Electrical Termination Certification is just one of many certification courses offered through Snap-on’s Tools for Life Technical Education Program. To date, more than 450 technical schools and training centers from across the country are offering specialized Snap-on Certifications in disciplines such as Torque, Diagnostics, Vehicle Information Systems, Multimeter, Horticulture, Tools@Height, Structural Sheetmetal Assembly, and now Precision Electrical Termination. These innovative certification programs enable students to broaden their technical skills while enhancing their employability.

The goal of the Snap-on Education Program is to leverage nearly 100 years of industry knowledge and tool expertise, developing product certification courses that serve as a significant enhancement to the curricula currently taught in today’s technical classrooms. These certification courses emphasize tool theory, application, and usage; three areas of study that equip students with an essential foundation for enhanced proficiency, productivity, and safety. The certifications conform to an established standard and are typically integrated into existing courses offered by partnering schools.

The certification training is a collaborative effort between Snap-on and the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), which is a network of education partners and corporations that supports advancements in workforce skills in the transportation, aviation, manufacturing and energy sectors.

Technical school instructors benefit from the partnership with Snap-on as they have an opportunity to learn the latest advancements in tool technology, and stay abreast of maintenance issues affecting their areas of expertise, by attending training seminars at Snap-on’s Kenosha, WI facilities. The technical schools benefit by being able to offer courses that train students to become tomorrow’s best professional technicians.
