StandardAero’s Center of Excellence for Turboprop Engine MRO In Summerside, PE, Canada, Celebrates 20,000th Engine Induction

StandardAero, an independent pure-play provider of aerospace engine aftermarket services, celebrates the 20,000th engine induction at its Center of Excellence (COE) for Turboprop Engine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) in Summerside, PEI, Canada. StandardAero’s Summerside facility, located in Slemon Park, is a Pratt & Whitney Canada-authorized Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF) for the PT6A turboprop engine, the PW100 turboprop engine and the JT15D turbofan engine.

“The achievement of our 20,000th engine induction is a testament to the unwavering dedication and customer focus of our talented workforce,” says Jeff Poirier, vice president and general manager of the Turboprops & Fleets (TPAF) Business Unit for StandardAero. “Since it first opened in 1991 with four employees, StandardAero’s Summerside facility has grown into a world-class MRO provider employing over 475 skilled technicians and service personnel, supporting customers worldwide from a 130,000-square-foot airside location. Our reputation for service excellence is well-known across the industry, and we look forward to serving our customers with another 20,000 shop visits over the coming decades.”

StandardAero is the world’s largest independent Pratt & Whitney Canada-authorized PW100 DOF, supporting operators from two overhaul locations — Summerside and Gonesse, France — plus six service centers positioned across North America, South America, Africa and Australasia. StandardAero has been supporting the PW100 operator community for over 40 years, having been appointed as the first independent MRO provider for the engine in 1984.

StandardAero is also the world’s largest independent Pratt & Whitney Canada-authorized JT15D DOF with distribution rights on certain engine models, supporting the engine from the Summerside overhaul facility plus ten service center locations in the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Australia. StandardAero’s JT15D service offerings include the VMAX pay-per-hour support program, which delivers peace of mind through a predictable, ‘no surprises’ engine-maintenance expense guarantee. StandardAero has been supporting the JT15D operator community for over 50 years, having been appointed as an MRO provider for the engine in 1974.

In addition, StandardAero is the world’s largest independent Pratt & Whitney Canada-authorized PT6A DOF, with distribution rights on certain engine models. The company supports the global PT6A operator community from four DOFs located in North America, Europe, Africa and Australasia, backed up by a global network of six service centers and over twenty dedicated mobile repair technicians. StandardAero has been supporting the PT6A operator community for over 60 years, having been appointed as the first independent MRO provider for the engine in 1964.

With over 60 years of reliable turboprop and turbofan MRO experience, StandardAero’s Summerside Center of Excellence provides operators with a nose-to-tail suite of engine services tailored to their specific needs, including repair schemes, re-engineering STCs, engine exchanges and rentals.
