West Star Aviation Shows Commitment to Future Leaders, Sustainability as Part of Colorado Green Business Network
As a Gold Member of the Colorado Green Business Network (formerly known as the Colorado Governor’s Environmental Leadership Program), West Star Aviation’s Grand Junction location announces it has chosen to sponsor District 50's Grand Junction High School STEM class for the 2022-23 Environmental Sustainability Project.
Together West Star and the class will design, build and install a solar charging station for students to use with their personal electronic devices. The students have designed four charging stations that support four individual charging ports each. The project is being rolled out in conjunction with the new high school facility currently under construction.
West Star Aviation sees great value in supporting these future business leaders and showing them how environmental sustainability should be reviewed as a larger part of facility expansion plans. The program teaches the students how to network with local businesses and develop a return-on-investment matrix. The in-depth process also teaches them how to navigate a project through all steps of development, including initial idea, renderings and technical drawings, to an active construction project, and finally to the completed project.
West Star has been a member of the program since 2009. As an environmental leader in the state of Colorado, the company takes great pride in supporting the students of District 51 and helping to develop them into tomorrow’s leaders.
