Western Aircraft Announces $17M Expansion
Western Aircraft, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, announces it is undertaking its second major expansion in six years. The new 93,000-square-foot addition on Western’s existing 18-acre leasehold will more than double its existing MRO operating space.
In 2014, Western Aircraft completed a $4.7 million expansion to its campus, adding two new buildings, facility improvements and specialized tooling, bringing Western’s MRO space to approximately 90,000 square feet. This new expansion will add a 53,000-square-foot hangar and 40,000 square feet of back shop/office space. The new hangar will support Western’s growing jet-maintenance capabilities, and the new back shop/office space will provide room for the company’s expanding interiors-shop capabilities and administration offices.
“This expansion and our growth are a testament to the hard-working employees at Western Aircraft and our commitment to provide first-rate services to our customers,” says vice president and general manager for Western Aircraft, Austin Shontz. “We have been part of the Boise, Idaho, community since 1957, and we are proud we can continue to grow and expand our presence here.”
Shontz added that many things factored into the company’s need for this most recent expansion, including Western Aircraft’s growing MRO support for Embraer; Cessna Citation 525 series, 550 series, 560 and 560XL series aircraft; and Gulfstream IV/450 and V/550 aircraft.
Western maintains a substantial customer base from the United States and Canada and boasts an extensive history of working on diverse types of airframes, including Citation, Falcon, Embraer, Gulfstream, Hawker, King Air, Pilatus, Piper and Quest.
A public groundbreaking will not take place due to COVID-19 precautions. The estimated completion date is the first quarter of 2021.
