Gulfstream Recognized by Honeywell as Center of Excellence for APU Work

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announces its auxiliary power unit (APU) repair facility has been recognized as a Center of Excellence by Honeywell Aerospace, the APU manufacturer.

“Gulfstream has been a longstanding partner with Honeywell and has established itself as an APU Repair and Overhaul Center of Excellence,” says Neil Hounjet, senior director, BGA Aftermarket Business, Honeywell Aerospace. “Gulfstream continuously expands its capabilities while investing in material, tooling and personnel, which enables them to deliver a high-quality finished product and achieve turnaround times that are better than industry standard.”

Established in June 2008, the Savannah-based facility features a maintenance shop as well as a 300-square-foot test cell, where technicians can repair and test APUs for Gulfstream business jets as well as those installed on other aircraft.

“This recognition and the tremendous work we’ve done further demonstrate our wide-ranging, in-house service and support capabilities,” says Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Customer Support. “We’re proud of the work our team has accomplished in support of our customers and appreciate the formal recognition from Honeywell.”

Gulfstream is authorized to perform heavy repairs and overhauls as well as warranty and manufacturer service program work on a wide range of Honeywell APUs, including the 36-100, 36-150, RE100, RE220 series and HGT400. Gulfstream also supports these APUs when preinstalled on other business jets and helicopters, including aircraft models built by Bell, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Embraer, Hawker and Sikorsky. The facility has received nearly 30 foreign authority certifications. Factory-trained technicians with more than 100 years combined experience on Honeywell APU models staff the facility around-the-clock as part of Gulfstream’s 24/7/365 support.
