We are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for personal and professional growth while fostering a culture of respect and well-being, all within a close-knit, small-company atmosphere.What you can expect as a Lead Maintenance Inspector at West Star: Available Shifts: Monday–Thursday nights and Weekends.As a Lead Maintenance Inspector, you will oversee the performance of operational quality control tasks and ensure strict adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in the West Star Aviation (WSA) Repair Station Quality Control Manual, Customer Maintenance Programs, and Federal Aviation Regulations.You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS, including:

  • Reviewing technician assignments and sign-offs to confirm compliance with Roster and Repair Station Authorizations.
  • Performing front-line, spot checks of technician maintenance activities to ensure adherence to AMM, RSQCM, and customer GMM guidelines, including but not limited to:
    • Ensuring all Repair Station RQC and Operator RII requirements are properly identified, inspected, and documented.
    • Conducting engine run/taxi qualifications for technicians assigned to engine operations.
    • Verifying satisfactory completion of squawks.
    • Confirming operational checks are performed correctly.
    • Spot-checking technician proficiency.
    • Communicating effectively with technical support.
  • Ensuring compliance with customer MEL “M” procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Adhering to MEL verification procedures as outlined in MQB 2018-02 Rev 1.
  • Performing aircraft final walk-arounds and releases, paying close attention to areas disturbed during maintenance.
  • Notifying the customer via email when the aircraft has been released from West Star Aviation custody.
  • Ensuring the use of current, appropriate technical data (e.g., manufacturer manuals, service bulletins, part/component specifications).
  • Following the Policies and Procedures outlined in the WSA RSQCM.
  • Ensuring proper tagging, inspection, and identification of parts and components, coordinating these inspections in real-time with maintenance activities.
  • Verifying that customer requests are carried out as expected, including:
    • Confirming involvement of proper technical support.
    • Mentioning technical support in Corridor corrective actions.
    • Monitoring MX Net project statuses and updates.
    • Performing spot checks of Ramp App usage.
  • Performing functions authorized on the Repair Station Roster.
  • Rejecting items or work that do not comply with WSA standards, customer programs, or federal regulations.
  • Rejecting incomplete or improperly completed work submitted for return-to-service consideration.
  • Holding aircraft releases if unsatisfactory conditions are identified that could lead to a quality escape.
  • Rejecting corrective actions related to quality issues.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively in English (speaking, writing, reading).
  • Performing any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Requirements: 

What you’ll need to bring with you:Your Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (AP) License or Repairman Certificate.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Aircraft-specific factory training is a plus.

Your Experience:

  • Extensive experience in maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations under Part 43.
  • Proficiency in using various inspection equipment and visual inspection aids suited to the articles being inspected.

Your Initiative:

  • A team player who is self-motivated and capable of performing in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Your Sense of Responsibility:

  • Attend scheduled workdays, including overtime and weekends.
  • Notify your supervisor in advance if you are unable to work.
  • Reliable transportation to ensure daily attendance.
  • Perform all work in compliance with FAA guidelines.
  • Follow all company safety and operational protocols.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects and teams.
  • Complete work orders and FAA documentation accurately.

Other Particulars:Physical Requirements:

  • Lift at least 70 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
  • Repetitive motions with arms and hands.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Sit or stand for extended periods during repairs.
  • Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet), utilizing fall protection safety gear.

Mental Requirements:

  • Understanding and applying regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting and evaluating system operations.
  • Working professionally with colleagues.
  • Inputting and retrieving information from computers.
  • Experience with Apple and Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to travel to various locations and work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions:

  • Most work will be performed in hangar environments that may be very hot or cold.
  • Outside work during aircraft runs.
  • Various positions around the aircraft.

Equipment Used:

  • Personal hand tools provided by the mechanic.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
  • Jacks, stands, lifts, and support devices.
  • Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered tools.
  • Personal computers and work order prints.
