The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announces that industry veteran and former association board chair Don Baldwin will receive the 2021 John P. “Jack” Doswell Award during the organization’s 2021 Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), set for Oct. 12-14 in Las Vegas, NV. The award will be presented on Oct. 14 during the NBAA-BACE National Safety forum.

A lifelong safety advocate with more than 30 years’ experience in supporting business-aviation flight operations and introducing groundbreaking standards and best practices, Baldwin is president and co-founder of Baldwin Safety & Compliance, which he founded in 2004 to provide safety management and support programs to all sizes of flight departments and transportation organizations.
Baldwin began his career at Texaco in 1974 as a copilot and retired from the company as manager of aviation transport services. While he was at Texaco, the company received one of the first NBAA 50-Year Safe Flying awards, and Baldwin personally received the “Top Gun” award for his pioneering approach to business aviation safety. He then joined The Coca-Cola Company as director of corporate aviation. In both roles, he led the teams that developed policies, standard operating procedures and organizational redesigns.
Baldwin has additionally served on many industry boards and committees, including the NetJets Advisory Board, FAA FOARQ Committee, Signature Flight Support Advisory Board and Embraer Advisory Board.
Business & Commercial Aviation magazine recognized Baldwin with its “Visionary Award” for his participation on the FAA Fractional Ownership Aviation Rulemaking Committee that shaped the safety of Part 91 Subpart(K) operations. He also earned numerous awards, having flown more than 9,000 hours of accident- and incident-free flying.
A graduate of Wilmington College and the Darden School at the University of Virginia, Baldwin was also awarded certification in aviation safety and security through the University of Southern California-Viterbi School of Engineering program in 2010.
