West Star Aviation Celebrates Inaugural WSAA Graduation, Solidifies Position as Industry Leader
West Star Aviation Academy (WSAA), established in January 2024 by West Star Aviation in partnership with Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), celebrates the graduation of its inaugural class in the presence of employees, families, community members and industry leaders. These 23 graduates are now in the process of testing for their FAA Airframe License. West Star also welcomes 25 new apprentices into WSAA, with their graduation anticipated in spring 2025.

C&L Aerospace Signs Contract to Sell Boeing 737-800 Inventory
C&L Aerospace, a C&L Aviation Group company, announces that it has signed an agreement, conducted through Ernst & Young, to sell 737NG inventory owned by REX Airlines in Australia. The unfortunate circumstance of REX going into administration has resulted in its 737 fleet no longer flying and becoming available for sale. The inventory, containing a CFM56-7 engine, auxiliary power unit, landing gear, and other fast-moving parts, was purchased by REX to support its now grounded fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Enstrom Helicopter to Host Maintenance Training Classes for Both Piston, Turbine
Enstrom Helicopter Corporation invites mechanics and pilots to join the upcoming Enstrom maintenance training courses the weeks of Sept. 23 (for piston models) and Sept. 30 (for turbine models). Each course will run for five days, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. These classes are the final set of courses scheduled for 2024.
AeroSHARK Set to Debut on Boeing 777-200ER
Together with Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa Technik is introducing the fuel-saving AeroSHARK surface film to another aircraft type. From winter 2024, four Boeing 777-200ER aircraft of the Austrian carrier will be equipped with the sharkskin technology. The riblet film reduces frictional resistance during flight and thus lowers the kerosene consumption as well as CO2 emissions of long-haul aircraft.
