As I'm writing this, it's the end of day two at NBAA-BACE 2025 in Las Vegas. The D.O.M. magazine team has had a busy two days with lots of conversations at our booth, plenty of press conferences and seminars, and walking the show floor looking for new products and services for aircraft maintenance professionals.

Satcom Direct and ForeFlight Improve Situational Awareness
Satcom Direct and ForeFlight Improve Situational Awareness

Satcom Direct (SD), a business aviation connectivity provider, and ForeFlight, creator of the widely-used flight planning and electronic flight bag app for Apple iPad and iPhone, announce a new integrated data solution for joint Satcom Direct Router (SDR®) and ForeFlight Performance customers. Customers can now use the SDR as a GPS data source to accurately depict aircraft “ownship” position on ForeFlight’s dynamic moving map display without the need for additional GPS hardware. With GPS location, ground speed and indicated altitude information, passengers and crew flying with their iPad or iPhone can track the flight’s progress on the map and see real-time information, like time to destination, distance to destination, and local time of arrival.

StandardAero and Martin Aviation sign a three-year Authorized Service Center agreement for PT6A engine services at the 2017 NBAA-BACE event in Las Vegas, NV.  The agreement provides operators of King Air, Pilatus, Cessna Caravan, Cheyenne and TBM aircraft the advantage of a one-stop solution for both engine and airframe services.

Western Aircraft, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, partners with SmartSky Networks as the nationwide network rollout of SmartSky 4G LTE continues. Boise, ID-based Western Aircraft will serve as an authorized dealer for hardware sales and installation of SmartSky’s innovative technology and will sell and install SmartSky equipment across many business jet models using STC licenses obtained from SmartSky’s earliest distribution partners.

Duncan Aviation collaborates with Bombardier Business Aircraft to develop supplemental type certificates (STCs) for the Gogo AVANCE L5 system hardware on in-service Challenger* series aircraft. The new and faster 4G service will use Gogo AVANCE L5, a lightweight and compact system that, operating on the Gogo Biz 4G ground network of more than 250 towers, provides reliable connectivity over the continental U.S. and parts of Canada and Alaska. Designed specifically for business aircraft, the system offers enhanced connectivity applications, such as audio and video streaming, faster internet and access to VPN and emails with attachments, for a vastly improved user experience.

In an effort to help business jet operators more easily meet the upcoming automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) mandate and prevent potential operational disruption for their customers, Duncan Aviation and GE Aviation have collaborated to provide ADS-B benefits to GE’s OnPoint engine service customers through Duncan Aviation’s nationwide full-service and satellite avionics facilities.

SoCal Jets announces it has been named an authorized dealer of Satcom Direct global connectivity solutions, Astronics AeroSat Connectivity Solutions, and BendixKing innovative and intuitive avionics. Backed by these exciting new partnerships, SoCal Jets can now offer the many cutting-edge products produced by Satcom Direct, Astronics, and BendixKing.

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) receives certification from the Federal Aviation Administration for the Primus Epic® 2.0 cockpit, making its debut on the Pilatus PC-24 Super Versatile Jet. The system combines the latest in Honeywell’s cockpit technologies to provide pilots with the best flight experience and communication capabilities yet. Primus Epic 2.0 supports Honeywell’s SmartView™ Synthetic Vision system and Honeywell’s Interactive Navigation™ to increase navigational performance and safety by identifying difficult terrain and efficiently redirecting flight paths.

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) celebrates a major milestone across its fleet of aircraft engines with more than 225 million flight hours accumulated over the HTF7000 turbofan, the TFE731 turbofan and the TPE331 turboprop product lines. For more than 50 years, Honeywell has been developing reliable, efficient and cost-effective propulsion engines that continue to advance aviation.

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) expands its Primus Elite® cockpit offerings with new Federal Aviation Administration certifications for Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Embraer and Fairchild-Dornier aircraft. The certifications provide business jet operators with a simple display upgrade option that delivers advanced functionality and improved visual clarity. In addition, Honeywell has regulatory approval for its Primus Elite Advanced Features software upgrade, enabling pilots to use the Synthetic Vision System to help them be more aware of their surroundings and increase safety.
