My daughter made me a t-shirt for Christmas with the above quote on it attributed to Albert Einstein. Instead of the actual written quote, it uses numbers and letters as in the headline. It was a thoughtful gift!

Actively Engaged and Advanced Certification

Last November 5, the FAA issued Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) 2010-1060, “Policy Clarifying Definition of Actively Engaged for Purposes of Inspector Authorization.” The original deadline for comments was December 6, but the FAA extended the comment deadline to January 17. Either deadline was too early for a call to action in this column, but I wanted to make some comments on the NPRM, Inspection Authorization, and advanced certification.

It’s been really burning me up lately to watch as the media tears apart companies for purchasing business jets.

A real shortfall of recent attempts at economic stimulus is the lack of ability of Washington to recognize that it’s encouraging the purchase of goods that stimulates the economy. It’s not any more complicated than that.
