For those that may not know, QWERTY is a keyboard layout. Its name comes from the order of the top left letter row of the keyboard — Q-W-E-R-T-Y. This layout was created by Christopher Latham Sholes, a newspaper editor and printer from Kenosha, WI.

Cutter Aviation Expands in Georgetown, TX, with Purchase of GTU Jet

Cutter Aviation announces the purchase of GTU Jet FBO at Georgetown Municipal Airport (GTU) in Texas. The acquisition of GTU Jet follows the purchase of AeroJet in Dec. 2021, increasing the company’s footprint in Georgetown Executive Airport to 152,000 square feet of hangar space for based clients and transient traffic and 34,588 square feet of FBO and office space, including conference rooms, pilot lounge with snooze room, flight-planning area, crew car and concierge service.

Spirit Aeronautics, an avionics solutions provider for business, special missions, and military aircraft, announces it has teamed with Honeywell Aerospace to provide 6.1 software upgrades for the flight management systems in all Cessna Citation X aircraft. FAA Awards $5 Million in Grants to Train the Next Generation of Aviation Maintenance Technicians

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awards $5 million in grants to develop a diverse talent pool of aviation maintenance technicians. The Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Workforce Development Grants were awarded to organizations that will teach technical skills and prepare participants to pursue aviation maintenance careers.

Three students enrolled at the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) are awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce (PAACC) Enterprise Foundation. PIA students Daniel Downes, Nathan Stoots, and Michael Woodruff were selected by the PAACC as this year’s scholarship winners based on the combined merits of their GPAs, consistent class attendance, and the commitment and inspiration they expressed in their written essays.
