Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) announces the certification of Runway Occupancy Awareness (ROA), marking the first certified software solution utilizing the Surface Indications and Alert (SURF-IA) technology. ROA uses ADS-B traffic to alert the crew of potential runway incursions caused by nearby airborne aircraft, aircraft on the ground, and ground vehicles. The initial FAA certification was received by Textron Aviation on the G1000® NXi-equipped Cessna Caravan.

Facilities in Duncan Aviation’s satellite network can soon begin installing the full Garmin®  avionics upgrade in Citation CJ2 aircraft. With the announcement from Garmin this week at the 67th Annual AEA International Convention & Trade show in Dallas, TX, Duncan Aviation is ready to schedule these upgrades.

Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) announces enhancements for its FltPlan safety management system (SMS) with updates to the Flight Risk Assessment Tool (FRAT) and a completely new safety performance dashboard. The redesigned FRAT requires less input from pilots and now includes the ability for operators to customize FRATs for different pilots and aircraft. The new reporting dashboard allows operators to more easily monitor safety performance indicators (SPI) and other safety trends, with the ability to tailor the data to the specific needs of their company.

Garmin (NYSE: GRMN), announces it has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) supplemental type certification (STC) for the GFC™ 600 autopilot in the King Air 200 series of aircraft. The GFC 600 digital autopilot is designed for high-performance piston single- and twin-engine aircraft. It also provides an advanced autopilot solution for both jet and turbine aircraft that have a wide range of speed and performance characteristics.

Two prestigious industry awards are presented during the opening session of the 65th annual Aircraft Electronics Association International Convention & Trade Show at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA, March 28. Determined in a vote by AEA members, James Temple of Temple Electronics was named the AEA Member of the Year, while Garmin was honored as the AEA Associate Member of the Year.
