Thornton Aviation Completes Its First Gogo Galileo HDX Installation on a Gulfstream G200

Thornton Aviation successfully completes its first Gogo HDX installation on a Gulfstream G200, utilizing the Trimec Aviation supplemental type certificate (STC). This is the first Thornton Aviation G200 customer to upgrade from ATG to satcom services. This milestone project further demonstrates Thornton Aviation’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge connectivity solutions to business-aviation clients.
The Gogo Galileo HDX system was installed over a three-week period, reflecting the efficiency and expertise of the Thornton Aviation team. The installation process was guided by Trimec Aviation’s straightforward STC, and the project stayed on schedule and met all customer expectations.
The company received exemplary support throughout the project. Trimec Aviation provided timely answers and guidance on technical questions. Gogo’s support team also supported the project with outstanding customer service, ensuring a smooth and responsive installation experience.
The operator’s decision to select the Gogo Galileo HDX system was influenced by competitive pricing, reliable performance, and Gogo’s consistent support. “The customer took advantage of Gogo’s ATG to AVANCE L3 promotion, which added value to their upgrade,” says Don Milum, Thornton Aviation’s chief revenue officer. “Additionally, the benefits of Eutelsat’s OneWeb, low-earth orbit satellite network further enhances onboard connectivity and operational capabilities.”
“Completing the Gogo Galileo HDX install on the G200 was a straightforward process with a well-executed STC and excellent support from both Gogo and Trimec. Gogo continues to deliver innovative products at a competitive price,” says Vince Russo, Thornton Aviation’s director of avionics. “With the May 2026 network migration to the new Gogo LTE system on the horizon, we are pleased to have supported this customer with the upgrade from a classic ATG service to the Gogo Galileo HDX option. We’re telling our customers the time to get in and get upgraded is now.”
Michael Skou Christensen, CCO, Gogo, adds, “Connectivity is now an expectation on all types of aircraft, and we’re pleased to have worked with Thornton Aviation to ensure the customer can now emulate their on-ground digital experience in the air. With the May 2026 cutover to the new LTE network — a fixed date — we are also encouraging legacy customers to book their MRO slot to upgrade their systems.”
Thornton Aviation has upgraded dozens of legacy Gogo ATG systems and installed numerous new systems. In addition to Gogo’s incentives, it is offering up to $10,000 future maintenance labor credits for the AVANCE options.
